Wolves transfer news: Rayan Ait-Nouri attracting interest from Manchester City

Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Athletic claim the French youngster is on the radar of Pep Guardiola heading into the summer.

Ait-Nouri has enjoyed a really good couple of years at Molineux since first joining on loan from Angers in the summer of 2020.

The starlet has had to compete with Fernando Marcal and Jonny Castro Otto, but has racked up 51 appearances for the club so far.

That’s a pretty good return considering his age, as are his numbers of two goals and seven assists.

Ait-Nouri is seen as a potential gem. And it seems his performances at Molineux have not gone unnoticed.

City’s interest in the player is perhaps no surprise.

Back in December, Ait-Nouri was the standout player for Wolves when the sides met at the Etihad Stadium.

Wanderers ended up losing that game 1-0, with Raheem Sterling scoring a penalty after a controversial handball decision against Joao Moutinho.

Ait-Nouri was an outlet for Wolves that day, and really impressed as he sought to get forwards and get Wolves up the pitch.

City are certainly in the market for a new left-back.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has been linked with a move away from the Etihad.

There have also been claims that the Citizens are looking to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

It’s far too early for Wolves to be selling Rayan Ait-Nouri, amid interest from Manchester City

It is stated that Wolves are not anticipating any offers for Ait-Nouri this summer.

But that doesn’t mean their ultimately won’t be any.

Wolves should definitely not consider selling Ait-Nouri if one did come in. The star has huge potential, and could be worth a lot more in a couple of years.

When Wolves signed Ait-Nouri permanently for £10 million, the club agreed to a 50% sell-on clause with Angers.

So, assuming that will remain in place, Wolves will need Ait-Nouri to increase his market value considerably if they are looking to make a lot of money on him. Surely that won’t happen for another couple of years.
