Wolves transfer news: PSV Eindhoven most likely destination for Fabio Silva

Wolves striker Fabio Silva is reportedly a target for a number of clubs across Europe, with PSV Eindhoven now named as one possible suitor.

The 20-year-old is currently midway through a season-long loan at Anderlecht.

Wolves decided to send him to Belgium last summer, in the hope of the player getting regular minutes.

He had struggled for regular opportunities at Molineux being in competition with Raul Jimenez.

So he joined Anderlecht and so far, the spell has gone well.

Silva has made 32 appearances for the club and scored 11 goals. He’s also laid on four assists.

The Express & Star have reported clubs from Spain, Italy and the Netherlands are keen to take Silva for the second half of the season.

And now, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that PSV are his most likely destination at the moment.

PSV – managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy – are currently sitting fourth in the Eredivisie table at the moment. They’re only five points behind the leaders Feyenoord, and are looking for a big push in the coming months.

Wolves have actually done business with PSV recently.

Last summer, Wanderers agreed a loan deal to send Ki-Jana Hoever to the Philips Stadion.

As with Silva, club officials wanted Hoever to get more game time and prove himself as a possible option for Wolves next season.

Wolves striker Fabio Silva to PSV feels like a bit of a sideways step, but Ruud van Nistelrooy factor could prove crucial

Silva heading to PSV would be a bit of a strange one.

At the moment, the youngster is getting regular minutes and scoring semi-regularly for Anderlecht.

The move is going well and Silva is doing exactly what Wolves officials hoped he would.

There is not such a major difference between the Eredivisie and the Belgian Pro League. The quality of players is slightly better, but the standard is fairly similar.

If Wolves were going to green light a new move for Silva, they should surely be trying to get him to Italy or Spain.

That would be a real step up for Silva and be a good test for him.

That all said, the fact PSV are managed by van Nistelrooy may come into Wolves’ thinking here.

He was once of the best strikers around, and undoubtedly has many pearls of wisdom he could pass on to young Silva.
