Wolves transfer news: Nacho Fernandez contract talks have completely stalled

Real Madrid defender and reported Wolves target Nacho Fernandez could be on his way out of the Bernabeu this year, with contract talks having completely stalled.

The Athletic have gone through all the Real players who stand to leave as free agents in the summer.

Nacho is one of those players, and apparently talks are now at a standstill.

A couple of months ago, both parties were confident about reaching an agreement.

But according to the defender’s camp now, ‘they are not receiving good feedback from the club and their initial optimism has cooled’.

The development really throws the situation up in the air.

A couple of months ago, it was reported that Lopetegui had interest in Nacho.

The Wolves boss has worked with him at Real and the Spanish national side.

Lopetegui is understood to be very keen to sign a new central defender this month. And Nacho would be a fine addition as someone more experienced than the other options.

The Athletic say Nacho is unhappy with his lack of minutes right now.

Another factor behind the talks stalling is that Nacho has interest from other clubs.

Supposedly there is a long-time suitor in Spain, and he also has ‘million-dollar offers’ from Saudi Arabia.

It is then stated that should Nacho not renew with Real, then his most likely destination would be the MLS.

Now is Wolves’ chance to pounce over Nacho Fernandez, as Real Madrid contract talks stall

So it looks as though Nacho could potentially be leaving Real in one of the next two windows.

It is surprising to hear that talks have stalled, given there was confidence on both sides a few months ago.

Nacho loves the club and has been there his whole career. To think he would leave in a January window just months before his contract ends is surprising.

Wolves should now be looking to get in on this.

Nacho is a player that could seriously improve the state of the dressing room.

The dressing room is in a much better place now compared to a couple of months ago. But it still lacks leaders and characters.

Nacho is vastly experienced, very dependable and extremely versatile. It is a no-brainer to bring him in and a move would not break the bank.
