Chelsea are reportedly now showing interest in Wolves youngster Rayan Ait-Nouri.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Blues are looking at the Frenchman as a potential addition this summer.
Chelsea’s interest in the 21-year-old can perhaps be explained by the fact that Marcos Alonso is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard has confirmed to Chelsea his plan to leave.
Alonso – who cost Chelsea £24 million – wants to join Barcelona, and has apparently already agreed personal terms with the Catalan giants. It is seemingly now just about whether a deal between the two clubs can be struck.
Chelsea do have Ben Chilwell, but the England international is coming back from an ACL injury, and could potentially take a while to get up to speed.
So it’s little surprise that Chelsea are looking for a new left-back – and the interest in Ait-Nouri is understandable.
The former Angers starlet really caught the eye for Wolves last term.
He made 27 appearances in total as he battled Fernando Marcal for minutes. And he contributed one goal and six assists.
Ait-Nouri regularly impressed with his offensive quality. But he showed that his defending has really improved since his first season with the club.
News of Chelsea’s interest follows reports last week that Manchester City are also keen. But it was stated that Wolves are not anticipating any offers for the youngster.
Wolves must rebuff offers for Ait-Nouri, amid new interest from Chelsea
It is surely too soon for the club to be thinking about cashing in on Ait-Nouri.
He’s only been at Molineux for two years, and one as a permanent player. Potentially, he could increase his market value considerably in only a couple of years.
Unless there is an absolutely outrageous offer, which is probably unlikely, Wolves should be rebuffing any bids that come in for Ait-Nouri.
The youngster has the potential to be special. It has simply got to be far too early to sell him.
