Wolves are set to miss out on Carlos Alcaraz, with the player bound for Southampton.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Argentinian youngster is heading to St. Mary’s in a deal worth around £12 million.
Racing Club will apparently have a 15% sell-on clause over the starlet.
He is set to undergo a medical this week, meaning an official announcement will not be far off.
Alcaraz is a player that has been frequently linked with Wolves.
The club have supposedly tracked him since last year, and he was linked again last month.
Benfica were also said to be keen on him at one point.
But it’s Southampton who are set to win the race.
The Saints have just signed Mislav Orsic, who was another player apparently on Wolves’ transfer radar at one point.
Wanderers are missing out on a top prospect from Argentina for the second successive transfer window, following Enzon Fernandez last summer.
Wolves apparently wanted the 21-year-old when he was at River Plate. But a deal was never done, and he proceeded to join Benfica.
He is now one the of most coveted young footballers in the world.
Blow for Wolves as Carlos Alcaraz prepares to join Southampton
So Alcaraz is coming to the Premier League, but he will not be moving to Wolves.
It is going to be interesting to see how he gets on at Southampton. By many accounts, the starlet is another very talented young player from Argentina.
Wolves ultimately came to regret missing out on Enzo Fernandez.
Hopefully, the same thing will not happen with Alcaraz.
