Blackburn Rovers have reportedly enquired about taking Wolves youngster Ryan Giles on loan, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The Championship side are gunning for promotion, and currently sit second in the table five points behind leaders Fulham.
The club are looking to get back to the English top-flight for the first time since their relegation back in 2012.
Giles, of course, was recalled from his loan spell at Cardiff City earlier this month by Wolves.
The decision was taken in order to provide a bit more cover for the first-team.
Romain Saiss is still AFCON, and Fernando Marcal was a potential option to move to left centre-back.
In the end, Giles hasn’t played a minute since returning, and it seems he could now be on the move again.
The fact Giles – whom Scott Sellars said had ‘shown his quality’ when he signed a new deal with the club in December 2020 – has not turned out for the first-team means he will be able to join a club that isn’t Cardiff.
Rules permit players may only play for two clubs in one season.
Wolves should sanction loan exit for Ryan Giles, amid Blackburn claim
Wolves should be looking to facilitate this particular loan move for Giles.
At this stage, the youngster isn’t going to get any minutes with the first-team. It looks like Toti Gomes Gomes could be staying now, meaning Marcal would only be needed at left wing-back.
Rayan Ait-Nouri has the shirt at the moment. And Jonny Castro Otto is coming back next month meaning there just isn’t any chance for Giles to get minutes.
Blackburn would be a good move for him.
They are chasing promotion, and it would be a good experience for Giles to be part of a such a push.
Rovers have a brilliant striker in Ben Brereton Diaz. He could well help Giles to rack up a few more assists, after getting nine at Cardiff.
