Wolves transfer news: Barcelona want to use Sergino Dest to sign Yannick Carrasco

Wolves were recently linked with a move for Sergino Dest, but could now miss out with Barcelona reportedly wanting to use him to sign Yannick Carrasco.

Last week, it was claimed that Wolves have been keeping tabs on the full-back, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Supposedly, Wanderers like Dest, who will be heading back to the Nou Camp this summer, with Milan not taking up their option to sign the player permanently.

But any plans Wolves may have to make a move for Dest – who is known for his searing pace – may now have been complicated.

SPORT have reported today that Barca are looking to sign Carrasco from Atletico Madrid.

Their idea is to include Dest in a deal to bring the Belgium international to the Nou Camp. They know Atleti need a right-back, and apparently, Carrasco wants the move to Barca.

SPORT state that the player wanted the move in January.

Barca officials believe he could add to their project. But it seems the state of their finances mean they cannot make a substantial offer.

Apparently, Barca could offer around £13 million. But that price would come down if they could include Dest in a deal.

Potentially, this might make things difficult for Wolves if there was any plan to make a move for the USA international.

Nelson Semedo is out contract at the end of the season. Although, you would expect the club would like to trigger their option to extend that deal by two years.

So it looks as though Barcelona are somewhat dependent on Dest in order to get Carrasco.

But, of course, this move would obviously require Dest to want the move to Atleti.

It is unclear at this stage what he wants to do. But SPORT do say that he is not in Xavi’s long-term plans, so an exit does seem fairly likely.

Wolves, you would think, will extend Semedo’s contract. But then, there’s probably a need for a new right-back.

Jonny Castro Otto’s form has been a worry this season. It would be no surprise if the club were willing to listen to offers for the Spaniard.

That said, Ki-Jana Hoever is really impressing on loan at Stoke City and might be given a chance.
