Wolves are reportedly showing interest in Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest.

According to 90min, Wanderers are ‘keeping tabs’ on the full-back, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

Milan have an option to buy Dest, but that is unlikely to be triggered.

The player is set to return to Barca in the summer, and the club will then look to sell him. Barca bought him from Ajax in 2020 for a fee that could reportedly be worth up to £24 million. Upon signing him, he received a buyout clause of £362.9 million.

Dest has had some fitness problems this season, meaning he has been limited to just 14 appearances so far this term.

Seemingly, a new chapter could be on the cards for Dest next season – and a number of clubs are keen to offer him a fresh start.

Wolves are in the hunt. But there is also interest from Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Valencia and Sevilla in Spain, and Lyon and Union Berlin in France and Germany.

Crystal Palace and West Ham United are also keen.

Wolves reportedly like Dest and it will be interesting to see if the club do make a move.

At the moment, Nelson Semedo stands to leave the club at the end of the season.

But the club do have an option to extend the full-back’s contract by two years.

Semedo has improved a lot since Julen Lopetegui came in at Molineux. He had a really poor start to the season, but under the Spaniard he’s been much more consistent.

He has struggled this season, but Dest is a player with huge potential.

Injuries have hampered him since making that move to Barcelona and he hasn’t quite been able to live up to the hype yet.

But according to Coaches Voice, he is very attack-minded and has an ‘exceptional turn of pace’. Potentially, this would make a good replacement for Semedo if he moved on. The 29-year-old reportedly has interest from Benfica.

He has previously really impressed Xavi at Barca. The former midfielder said of Dest in February 2022: “When we got here, he wasn’t doing so well, but now he is doing great. I thought he was spectacularly good [against Valencia], both with the ball and without it. I am really happy with his progress.”

In October 2021, USMNT boss Gregg Berhalter said of him: “Sergino is an interesting player because it’s almost like the sky’s the limit for him. He can be as good as he wants to be and you saw today with his attacking play. It’s unreal

Perhaps a fresh start at Molineux could be what Dest needs. But Wolves, of course, would need to ensure they stay in the Premier League to have any chance of getting him.
