Wolves transfer news: Atletico Madrid in talks with Adama Traore

Wolves star Adama Traore is reportedly in talks with Atletico Madrid over a free transfer.

90min are reporting today that the Spanish giants are looking to sign the 27-year-old up once his contract at Molineux expires.

It is stated that Traore is now unlikely to agree a fresh deal with Wolves.

While Traore has enjoyed life under Julen Lopetegui, he is seemingly still set on leaving the club this summer to embark on a new adventure.

Traore has been with Wolves since 2018, when he joined from Middlesbrough for £18 million.

Traore has been breathtaking to watch at times with his blistering pace and power.

But he has frequently faced criticism over his end product.

Traore has been on the same contract at Wolves since he first arrived, and it was reported recently that Wanderers had made another offer to him to extend his stay.

90min say a return to Spain is now the most likely option for Traore.

The player has also been heavily linked with a move to Napoli in recent months.

It could be that Atleti making it into next season’s Champions League will be a big factor in him.

At the moment they’re sitting in fourth, just two points above Real Betis.

Over in Italy, Napoli are pretty guaranteed to be in the competition. They’re flying, and are currently top of Serie A by a whopping 18 points.

Julen Lopetegui wants Adama Traore to stay, but Atletico Madrid interest might be all too tempting

Julen Lopetegui said recently that the club was still working away on Traore, trying to get him to extend.

But interest from Atletico Madrid is likely to appeal greatly to the star.

They’re a huge club back in his homeland and Traore might just be ready for a new challenge in his career after five years at Wolves.

It would be sad to see Traore go, given how unique he is and the exhilarating way in which he plays the game.

But Wolves would be fine if he did depart. Ultimately, Traore did not score or assist like Diogo Jota did, for example.
