Pedro Neto is reportedly still on Arsenal’s radar heading into January, but the Wolves star isn’t their priority.
The 22-year-old has not kicked a ball for over nearly three months, having been nursing an ankle injury.
Neto picked up his injury in the 2-0 defeat to West Ham United at the start of October.
He required surgery, and still hasn’t been back out on the grass.
It has been a frustrating time for Neto, who had not started the season in very good form at all before his setback.
Neto was arguably one of the worst performers for Wolves in the opening weeks of the season, which seemed to coincide with transfer interest from Arsenal.
Arsenal will keen to sign Neto at the end of the last window.
But nothing materialised, and Neto stayed put at Molineux. Speaking on The FIVE Insider show, journalist David Ornstein revealed that Arsenal were put off by Wolves’ asking price for the player.
According to the Daily Express, Arsenal still hold a ‘firm’ interest in Neto heading into January.
But he is not their top target. Apparently, Mikel Arteta is most keen to bring in Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk.
Apparently Mudryk is keen to make the move, and they’re hopeful of signing him for less than the £86 million that is being bandied about (Goal).
Good news for Wolves as Arsenal prefer Mykhaylo Mudryk over Pedro Neto
Arsenal were seemingly very keen to sign Neto at the end of the last transfer window after loaning out Nicolas Pepe.
But they didn’t get a deal done thanks to Wolves’ firm stance.
It seems they have now seen a player they’d like more than him in Mudryk.
Mudryk is definitely a very special talent, and it would be a major statement from the Gunners if they got him.
Shakhtar will likely do their utmost to keep him, so Wolves are not out of the woods regarding Neto. It’s very possible Arsenal may still come calling for the currently injured Portuguese star.
