Wolves transfer news: Pedro Neto a priority for Arsenal

Wolves winger Pedro Neto has reportedly emerged as a transfer priority for Arsenal.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are now in talks with Wanderers about a potential deal.

Talks have actually apparently been ongoing for a month, with Jorge Mendes a central figure.

It is suggested that Neto is Arsenal’s top target if Nicolas Pepe leaves the club.

Pepe is being heavily linked with a loan move to Nice, so it is possible the Gunners will soon step up their pursuit.

There is no mention of any asking price from Wolves.

But the club have obviously just sold Morgan Gibbs-White to Nottingham Forest for a fee of £42.5 million.

It is reasonable to assume that Wanderers would be looking to bank more than that for any sale of Neto, who is a better player with higher potential.

The development comes after Manchester United were also linked with Neto last week.

Neto was one of the best performers in pre-season for Wolves, and hopes are high that he can have a really good campaign at Molineux.

So far in 2022/23 though, he has struggled to make much of an impact.

Wolves shouldn’t be tempted to sell Pedro Neto, amid interest from Arsenal

Wolves have a good pool of options now in terms of wide forwards.

And Neto is arguably the most talented out of all of them.

He was superb in pre-season. He may have started the new season a little slow, but Wolves shouldn’t be tempted to sell.

It would certainly anger a lot of supporters if he departed.
