Dave Edwards believes Wolves have made a serious statement ahead of the summer transfer window.
Wanderers can now look ahead to the Championship following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
It was a woeful season for Wolves, who finished bottom of the pile with just 20 points.

Wolves did have the chance to leapfrog Burnley on the final day, but came up short at Turf Moor, drawing 1-1.
Wolves now face their biggest summer in many a year, with a full-scale rebuild on the cards.
Many players will be leaving the club, with Rob Edwards dropping some hints after the draw with Burnley.
Joao Gomes, Hwang Hee-chan and Jose Sa are all likely to go.
But over the past couple of weeks we’ve been hearing players talk about taking on the challenge next season as if to suggest they’ll stay.
And one man who is definitely now staying is Andre, who signed a new contract last week.
Dave Edwards hails Andre contract decision
Ahead of the game with Burnley, Wolves fans were left stunned when it was announced that Andre had signed a new deal.
Many had expected him to move on this summer, given his quality and the fact he’d already been linked with other top clubs like Juventus.
But the Brazilian has committed his future, saying (via Wolves official): “I’m very happy to sign a new contract here. I’m very happy to be signing this contract with this club because it’s a club that I really like, and I love being here.
Wolves fans, your immediate thoughts on Andre signing a new contract with Wolves?!
Who saw this coming… 😳
“It’s been a tough season, and during this difficult period that this season has been, I think it’s now up to the players and coaches to do their part, and now I just want to work as hard as possible to come back to the Premier League.”
Andre now automatically becomes one of the best players in the Championship. Some will argue that on paper, nobody can match his quality.
And for Dave Edwards, keeping Andre is ‘an amazing coup’.
He said (via E&S): “The big news coming out before the game was Andre signing a new contract and I did not see that coming at all.
“I was certain he would leave this summer and it is an amazing coup for Wolves to keep a player of Andre’s quality.
“He’ll be able to handle the physicality of the league. He’ll be able to handle how fast it is, how little time he has on the ball. I think his actual game will become more effective in the Championship because of his skill set.
“You have less time on the ball but Andre handles the ball so well. He manoeuvres it from areas of high pressure to low pressure extremely well.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 18 | 38 | 10 | 9 | 19 | 46 | 65 | -19 | 39 | |
| 19 | 38 | 4 | 10 | 24 | 38 | 75 | -37 | 22 | |
| 20 | 38 | 3 | 11 | 24 | 27 | 68 | -41 | 20 |
“Edwards went on to predict that Andre could be the best player in the Championship ‘quite comfortably’ next year.
Without a doubt, it’s a statement of intent by Wolves and actually, Edwards deserves some praise over this. Clearly, Andre really likes him and wants to continue working under him.
Hopefully, this decision will encourage some others to stay, and also help to attract other really good players.
