Wolves must brace themselves amid big new transfer development at Leeds

It’s been quite quiet with Wolves since that chaotic week that saw two new players arrive, and Rob Edwards get sacked, but activity at Leeds United could now result in a player exit at Molineux.

Wolves are looking ahead to the new season and work is being done to construct a squad that is going to compete and get the club back in the Premier League.

Should any of these NOT be on this list? And are there any who aren’t there who SHOULD be on? 🤔

The Athletic have claimed Wolves would like these nine players to stay after relegation…

Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez have already signed, and so far, only Matt Doherty has departed.

The World Cup has taken centre stage, but we are about to enter July, so things should soon pick up.

Only Jimenez and Jose Sa are still at the World Cup now for Wolves, with Ladislav Krejci, Santiago Bueno, Hwang Hee-chan and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde all exiting after the group stage.

For the players that are coming back, there could now be movement regarding their futures, and Krejci is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Leeds to sell Pascal Stuijk, so Wolves must brace for Krejci approach

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Leeds were interested in signing Krejci from Wolves.

Krejci, of course, spent last season on loan at Wolves, but the club always had a clause that would turn that move permanent. The move is thought to have cost about £26 million in total.

But despite the move being turned permanent, Krejci could be on his way out.

Wolves don’t want to lose the player, but it’s obvious he is a Premier League-standard player.

Leeds were recently said to be interested, and now they are doing something which may, in turn, lead to an approach for the Wolves man.

As per Fabrizio Romano and Beren Cross, Leeds have agreed a deal to sell defender Pascal Struijk to Brighton for around £20 million.

Now this could be significant, because Struijk primarily plays at left centre-back for Leeds.

So Krejci, theoretically, would be the ideal like-for-like replacement.

It’s been reported that Wolves will have a release clause in Krejci’s contract when he officially becomes a permanent player, and it’s thought to be about 40 million.

Whether Wolves can really sell for this figure remains to be seen, but ideally, he won’t be going anywhere.

It will be hard to keep Krejci, but doing so would give the club a huge boost in their push for promotion before a ball has even been kicked.

But certainly, there should be no surprise if, once the Struijk deal is announced, then Leeds come calling for Krejci.

What will be very interesting is how Krejci responds.

He does not seem the type to agitate for a move. But that said, he has only been here a year and cannot have loved what he’s seen so far.

Knowing he can cut it in the top-flight may well mean he does try to facilitate an exit.
