Some Wolves fans have been reacting to a claim that Atletico Madrid are eyeing Nelson Semedo as a possible replacement for Kieran Trippier.
According to Marca, the Spanish league champions have identified the 28-year-old as someone who could replace the England international, who is signing for Newcastle United.
Trippier is making a return to English football, and was spotted at Newcastle’s training ground yesterday ahead of a £12 million move.
It is expected he’ll be unveiled today as the first signing since their takeover.
Apparently Semedo is on Diego Simeone’s shortlist to replace Trippier.
That is not really too much of a surprise, as the £77,000-a-week star has been in really good form this season.
Semedo had a shaky start in English football.
But under Bruno Lage he has made huge improvements, and is looking strong both offensively and defensively now.
Right now, Semedo has 18 months remaining on his contract at Wolves.
Wolves would probably be hopeful of him signing an extension given his great form of late.
Wolves fans react as Atletico Madrid eye Nelson Semedo
On social media, some Wolves fans have been giving their reactions to the claim Atletico Madrid are eyeing Semedo.
This one has certainly come out of the blue.
Bruno Lage has stated he wants to keep his squad together this month. If anything, he wants to add to his crop rather than see it further depleted.
Many fans have been quick to dismiss Atletico’s interest in former Barca player Semedo.
Plenty of people now see Semedo as a key player for Wolves. He reminded everyone how effective he can be with a fine performance against Manchester United on Monday.
Here’s what some people have said:
Upwards of £40m for me. Been outstanding this season

Can’t imagine we’d be willing to take a loss on him at this point and can’t see them paying £35-40m for him either 🤷♂️

it would take 50m for me to sell Semedo, especially in the January window

Can’t figure out as to why we’d sell Semedo without a big profit? The sort of money we SHOULD be asking for would be enough to keep most clubs away. https://t.co/TEzfqyMW5A
