Romain Saiss on the brink of Besiktas move after Wolves exit, medical done

Romain Saiss is set to be officially been announced as a Besiktas player today.

The star recently left Wolves after six years at the club, having not reached an agreement to extend at Molineux.

It is thought that the player’s wage demands were above what Wolves officials were willing to pay (via The Athletic).

The player took to Instagram on May 31 to confirm his exit from the club.

He followed John Ruddy and Fernando Marcal in departing Molineux.

It has not taken Saiss long to move on to a new chapter though. He is now a Besiktas player after undergoing his medical at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital.

The player arrived in Istanbul last night ahead of completing his move.

It is a good bit of business from the Turkish giants, with many clubs supposedly having taken an interest in Saiss.

The 32-year-old enjoyed a pretty good final season with Wolves in 2021/22.

He was absolutely rock-solid in the first half of the campaign.

He then went to AFCON, which seemingly disrupted his momentum a little. After coming back, he struggled to get back to his early season form.

And by the end of the season he was in poor form, before injury ruled him out of the final three matches.

Without doubt though, getting Saiss in as a free agent is a good move.

It is thought that he has secured himself a two-year deal at Vodafone Park.

And he will likely become an immediate starter with Domagoj Vida leaving.

A new chapter for Romain Saiss after fantastic spell at Wolves

So it looks like Besiktas have gotten their man, and it’s a really good move by them.

Saiss has his limitations, but one thing that’s always been clear with him is that he will give everything on the pitch.

He’s a warrior, and a leader.

He gave six great years of service to Wolves. Yes, he made some mistakes along the way. But he always played with heart, fight and determination.

Besiktas are getting themselves a fantastic professional if nothing else.

Given he proved himself in the Premier League, it’s likely Saiss could actually do really well in the Super Lig.
