Wolverhampton Wanderers’ chances of signing Joao Palhinha don’t appear to be particularly strong right now – but the star may still end up coming to the Premier League.
According to Record, Tottenham Hotspur are set to table a proposal for the Sporting CP midfielder.

A Bola claimed yesterday that Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is a long-term admirer of the player.
And it could be that he now moves for the star, at the expense of his former club.
Palhinha has long been linked with a move to Wolves.
It was reported back in June that he was a priority for the club.

But things have all gone quiet in recent weeks, following a claim that Sporting would refer suitors to his £51 million release clause.
It remains to be seen if Spurs do come in with a bid and if they do, how close it will be to that £51 million release clause.
Sporting are in the Champions League this season having comfortably won the league last term and so realistically, they need to try and keep their best players.
Palhinha transfer seems like a pipe dream
After weeks of silence in the papers and now news of Spurs preparing to bid, it seems like Palhinha to Wolves isn’t going to happen.

Had this been a feasible transfer, Wolves surely would have brought him in by now, given how long they have been interested.
He’s a brilliant player and if he does end up at Spurs, then Nuno will be laughing.
