Report: Sporting CP eye Al-Musrati amid Wolves links to Palhinha

Wolves could soon sign Joao Palhinha, with Sporting CP having now reportedly turned their attention to Al-Musrati.

According to O Jogo, the Portuguese outfit actually saw a player-plus-cash offer rejected for the Libya international.

Apparently, Sporting offered around £6.8 million plus Jovane Cabral.

But Braga turned that down, and it remains to be seen if Sporting make another attempt to sign him.

Al-Musrati’s stock is high at the moment having had two really good seasons with Braga.

The star, 26, has emerged as a dominant defensive midfield player, and last term helped Braga to finish fourth in the table.

Sporting’s interest in the player is intriguing. Of course, at the moment, Joao Palhinha is being heavily linked with a move to Molineux.

One would think that any signing of Al-Musrati could mean the 26-year-old finally heads to Wolves.

Recently it was claimed that Wolves were closing in on the midfield enforcer for around £20 million. At this point, it is the expectation of many fans that Wolves will land Palhinha.

Ironically, Al-Musrati is a player that Wolves have also been linked with.

Wolves supposedly had interest in him last year, and there have also been some more claims recently that the club are still keen.

Joao Palhinha to Wolves only a matter of time as Sporting eye Al-Musrati?

The idea that Sporting – who will play in next season’s Champions League – are attempting to land Al-Musrati is potentially good news for Wolves.

This would suggest that the club are preparing for life after Palhinha, since Al-Musrati plays at the base of the midfield.

He is seemingly a like-for-like replacement, with Al-Musrati also the same height and similar in terms of having a physical style.

Potentially, it’s a deal that could pave the way for Wolves to finally land Palhinha, who has been on Wolves’ radar for a long time.

Hopefully, Sporting go back in with another offer soon for Al-Musrati and it gets accepted.
