Report: Previous Wolves target Al-Musrati expected to leave Braga

Midfielder Al-Musrati, who was linked with Wolves last summer, is expected to leave Braga in the next transfer window.

According to a report from A Bola, the Libya international is expected to be the first sale by the club.

It is claimed that England or France would be the most likely destinations.

Al-Musrati is said by A Bola to have had the best season of his career in 2021/22.

He made a whopping 46 appearances in total for the club, playing almost 4000 minutes.

The defensive midfielder was a key player for Carlos Carvalhal (who has now left the club), helping the club to finish fourth in the league. He also helped the club reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Al-Musrati was supposedly a player on Wolves’ transfer radar last summer.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo claimed that the club were showing interest in the player, and that Braga valued him at around £13 million at the time.

Interestingly, that report suggested that Al-Musrati would potentially be targeted if Ruben Neves needed to be replaced.

Of course right now, there is a lot of speculation that Neves will be leaving Molineux.

The maestro has just enjoyed the best season of his career to date, and a number of clubs, like Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United, are keen on him.

Neves cast doubt on his Wolves future after the game with Liverpool, suggesting he could go this summer.

Could Wolves go back in for Al-Musrati after stellar season with Braga?

It could be that Wolves are tempted to make a move for Al-Musrati this summer.

They have shown interest in him in the past, and it seems as though the 26-year-old is fairly likely to leave Braga in the next window.

A Bola say that he is of interest to newly-promoted Fulham, so the club may not have a straight run at him.

But if there is good asking price, then it would be no surprise if Wolves came knocking.

Having said that, it has been claimed that Wanderers are now in talks to sign Joao Palhinha. He is also a defensive midfielder and so, there may not be a desire to sign two players who perform similar roles.
