Journalist claims Wolves have made Joao Palhinha approach

Wolves have reportedly now made an approach for Sporting CP midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has reported that the club are now in talks over a fee to take the enforcer to Molineux this summer.

Palhinha has long been linked with a move to Wolves.

The star has been on the club’s radar and there has been hope amongst the fanbase that Wanderers will finally make a genuine attempt to sign him this summer.

At the moment of course, there is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Ruben Neves.

Many people feel he has played his final game for the club, and will leave after a five-year spell.

Neves was outstanding throughout 2021/22, and it’s expected clubs will come in for him.

The player looked emotional in Wolves’ final two games of the season when acknowledging the club’s supporters.

And he suggested after the Liverpool game that players need to consider opportunities when they come along, with football being a short career.

It appears Wolves are planning for life after Neves having now made an approach for Palhinha.

This claim comes after a report from Jornal de Noticias, which suggested Sporting CP expected both Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur to soon come calling.

It is thought that Wolves may have to pay at least £25 million to sign him.

Wolves must get a deal done for Joao Palhinha early, after approach reportedly made

This is an encouraging claim.

Quite a few Wolves fans are worried about the summer ahead. There needs to be change, but some don’t trust the board to deliver.

It would send out a really good message if Wolves were able to strike a deal with Sporting CP nice and early for the transfer of Palhinha.

Him coming in may or may not mean Neves goes.

But speed here is key, especially with other clubs like Spurs said to be keen.
