Sporting CP are reportedly expecting offers from both Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur for midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Jornal de Noticias has claimed the 26-year-old is on the radars of both clubs, and could very well be departing this summer.
Manager Ruben Amorim is said to prefer to keep him.
But the Lions know there is potential to bring in a good fee for him this summer given the high level of interest.
Apparently there is interest from clubs across Europe, but it is the Premier League which appeals to Palhinha the most.
It is expected that both Wolves and Spurs will advance with initial offers soon.
The player is protected by a release clause of £51 million. But it is understood Sporting would be willing to accept a lower offer of at least £25 million.
It is set to be all change at Wolves this summer, and midfield is an area that could look very different ahead of 2022/23.
Ruben Neves could be on his way.
The way he looked as he applauded Wolves fans after last weekend’s game against Norwich City was potentially an ominous sign.
Joao Moutinho is out of contract at the end of the season, although Wolves apparently want to keep him and he would like to stay. But the veteran may see his minutes decrease next term if he did stick around.
And Leander Dendoncker has also been linked with a move to Lazio.
So it would be no surprise if Wolves went in quite strongly for Palhinha this summer.
Wolves must show they’re serious about Joao Palhinha, with Tottenham also ready to make an offer
It will be important for Wolves to go in with a strong first offer for Palhinha given Tottenham are also said to be ready to bid.
This is a player that could really improve Wolves’ midfield.
The club, therefore, need to not waste any time with low-ball offers for the 12-cap Portugal international.
Sporting appear open to selling, it’s just about how much Wolves really want the enforcer.
