Report: Morgan Gibbs-White has been playing right wing in Wolves pre-season training

Wolves star Morgan Gibbs-White has spent time playing wide on the right in pre-season training.

The 22-year-old has been going through the motions in Alicante and gearing up for the 2022/23 season.

The England U21 star is currently the subject of interest from several clubs, including Everton.

But Wolves want to keep hold of the academy graduate and involve him more in the first-team in the coming season.

Bruno Lage is a big fan of the youngster, and has apparently already spoken with Gibbs-White about his intention to use him much more.

A top of conversation amongst Wolves fans has been about Gibbs-White’s position were he to stay at Molineux.

He is versatile, and can operate as a central attacking midfielder or a winger.

According to the Express & Star, Gibbs-White played on the right wing during a training drill over the weekend.

They said: “He started by hugging the touchline and providing an easy passing option, before coming inside and allow Jonny Castro Otto to overlap from right-back, who was playing exceptionally far forward.

“It suited Gibbs-White, who was given some freedom to find space and link with those around him, including Daniel Podence who played behind the striker.”

An interesting claim about Gibbs-White as Lage casts eye over star in pre-season training

It is interesting to hear Gibbs-White was operating on the right, and it may well be a sign of things to come in 2022/23.

It is a role Gibbs-White played frequently during his time at Sheffield United last season.

And, obviously, he had enjoyed an absolutely superb campaign, scoring 12 goals and making 10 assists.

Lage likes to get his full-backs/wing-backs high, and that is something that could really play to Gibbs-White’s strengths.

With Adama Traore and Chiquinho currently injured, it’s possible he could be in line to start that first game of the season against Leeds United wide on the right.
