Wolves are set to complete their seventh signing of the January transfer window in the form of Joao Gomes – and the player has sent another message ahead of his imminent move.
Wolves reached a breakthrough with Flamengo ahead of the weekend.
Despite a big push from Lyon to sign the midfielder, Gomes has got his wish and is signing for Wanderers.
The French club made a higher offer, and their owner John Textor even paid Gomes a visit to try and convince him to make a move to France.
But Gomes has been adamant since day one that he wanted to join Wolves.
Flamengo decided to accept Wolves’ offer – thought to be in region of £15 million.
The player is now in England to undergo a medical.
Journalist Vene Casagrande claimed last night that Wolves are planning to do something ‘special’ in regard to how they will officially announce him.
It remains to be seen what the media team will come up with. But Gomes already has cult hero status for some, given the way he rejected Lyon.
Gomes took to Twitter yesterday evening to send another message, ahead of his imminent move.
He wrote: “Nothing beats work (muscle emoji) come on (fire emoji).”
In response to that, Casagrande put three wolf emojis to signify the imminent transfer.
Seemingly Gomes is feeling defiant and is ready to get going, as he embarks on a new chapter with Wolves.

It is very exciting that the Gomes deal is finally going through.
Lyon’s efforts to sign the player had left many Wolves fans worried that the club would miss out.
Of course last summer, we saw how Wolves let another talent from South America – Enzo Fernandez – slip through their fingers. Although that situation was never as advanced as the Gomes one.
This time Wolves have got their man.
And it’s going to be brilliant watching him turn out for Wolves. He’ll be a very popular figure right from the off at Molineux given how everything has panned out.
