Hugo Ekitike to be transfer listed by PSG, after Wolves wanted him last summer

Hugo Ekitike could be set to leave PSG after just one season, with reports claiming the French giants are ready to transfer-list the former Wolves target.

Le Parisien have claimed that the youngster could be set for a swift exit from the club.

Ekitike technically isn’t even a PSG player yet.

He joined them last summer on loan from Reims, but there is an obligation to buy that will be exercised this summer.

But PSG are seemingly ready to move him on already.

The youngster has struggled in his first season with the club, scoring just four goals in 27 games.

He has been unable to reproduce the form he showed with Reims that established him as one of the hottest prospects in Europe.

Ekitike was strongly linked with Newcastle United in the January 2022 window. He ultimately decided to stay put with Reims to continue his development.

A few months later, reports surfaced regarding interest from Wolves. Wanderers were said to have scouted the player.

A move never materialised though, with PSG then swooping in to take him on loan. They are a club that will always be difficult for a lot of young French players to say no to.

But it hasn’t worked out for Ekitike in Paris, and it could be that he now leaves after just one season.

It remains to be seen if Wolves want to reignite their previous interest in the player.

Hugo Ekitike situation is worth keeping an eye on for Wolves, with star set to leave PSG after just one loan season

Wolves will need to ensure their Premier League safety. But the Ekitike situation is something they should keep a close eye on.

It hasn’t happened for him at the Parc des Princes.

In his defence, it’s difficult for any attacking player to shine in that team when there’s competition in the form of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

It will be interesting to see how much PSG would want for Ekitike.

PSG will reportedly pay £30 million to sign Ekitike from Reims this summer as per that clause. So one would imagine they’d be looking to at least recoup that outlay.
