Wolves defender Hugo Bueno is in talks with Fiorentina about a possible transfer.

The Spaniard was one of Wolves’ better players in the dismal 2025/26 campaign, having started the majority of games at left-back.

Should any of these NOT be on this list? And are there any who aren’t there who SHOULD be on? 🤔

The Athletic have claimed Wolves would like these nine players to stay after relegation…

Hugo Bueno played 35 games in the Premier League for over 2300 minutes of game time, and came in for praise from fans for offering himself as an outlet.

It was previously claimed that Bueno had a market this summer, and now he could now be heading for a departure, with journalist Matteo Moretto claiming on X that Fiorentina are in talks to sign him.

And this could now have significance for David Moller Wolfe, who struggled for minutes last term.

That Fiorentina are in talks to sign Bueno could now mean that David Moller Wolfe finally becomes a regular starter under Cesar Peixoto.

The Norwegian defender made 22 appearances last term for just over 1000 minutes of game time, which was somewhat surprising.

Because Moller Wolfe did show decent promise when he played.

He scored two goals (both in the same game against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup) and made two assists, showing he can provide output going forward.

And Moller Wolfe has put in two good performances for Norway at the World Cup so far, making one assist for Erling Haaland in the first game against Iraq.

It hasn’t really happened for him in a Wolves shirt, but plenty felt that he ought to have had more minutes than he did.

Bueno’s creativity would be a miss – as per Data MB, he ranked sixth out of all left-backs in the top five leagues last term for combined expected goals and assists, with 6.18. Only Nico O’Reilly, Marco Palestra, Senny Mayulu, Nuno Mendes and Samuele Angori were ahead of him.

But if Peixoto is to move Wolves to a back four, then Moller Wolfe may actually be more suited.

He is arguably a better defender than his teammate, but can still also provide output going forward.

If Wolves were sticking with wing-backs, perhaps there would be more of a case to keep Bueno and offload Moller Wolfe instead.

Of course, with Moller Wolfe doing well at the World Cup, it cannot be ruled out that teams will come in for him as well.

But if Bueno is being targeted by Fiorentina and is sold, the club really ought to avoid losing Moller Wolfe, especially since he is proven.
