‘Elegant’: Wolves told they’re targeting a ‘brilliant’ player who’s a lot like Jack Grealish

Former Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards has thrown his backing behind a move for Alex Scott this summer.

Wanderers have been long term admirers of the Bristol City midfielder and are hopeful of signing him in this window.

Recently, it was suggested Wolves were out of the race for Scott.

But in recent days it has been reported that Wolves are going to try again to sign the talented 19-year-old.

There is strong competition for Wolves.

Bournemouth are particularly keen to sign him and have also seen a bid rejected.

Bristol City are said to be holding out for £25 million, and it remains to be seen if Wolves will need to offer such an amount or if they can negotiate slightly below.

Dave Edwards backs Wolves move for Alex Scott

In the eyes of Edwards, a move for Scott this summer is exciting.

Edwards has covered Championship games for Sky Sports and therefore been able to watch the starlet.

And he has really liked what he has seen.

He said: “He really is a rounded footballer, he presses really well and he is full of energy but his main asset is what he does with the football – technically he is brilliant and he handles it well.

“He likes to run with it and he is elegant when he does so, almost a bit like Jack Grealish – as he seems to travel quicker with the ball than without it.”

Scott was actually praised by Grealish himself earlier this year after Bristol City’s game with Manchester City in the FA Cup. He called him a ‘top, top player’.

And actually, he does carry the nickname ‘the Guernsey Grealish’ for the way his ball-carrying is similar to the England star.

Wolves signing Alex Scott would give the fans a huge lift

It would be brilliant if Wolves brought in Scott this summer.

He is without doubt one of the most talented players in the EFL, and could well be the next big English star.

Many clubs have taken an interest him in recent times, so it’s pretty likely he’ll be leaving Ashton Gate this summer.

It’s just a case of where he goes.

Previously it has been reported that Scott likes Wolves and would be open to a move.

It’s just about whether Wanderers can strike an agreement with Bristol City.

Thankfully, it doesn’t appear with this particular pursuit that the club’s financial position is an issue.
