Edon Zhegrova turned down advances from Wolves

Kosovo international Edon Zhegrova supposedly turned down advances from Wolves, before sealing a move to Ligue 1 outfit Lille.

The winger has just completed a switch to the reigning league champions of France from FC Basel.

L’Equipe reported a couple of days ago (via GFFN) that the fee would be somewhere in the region of €7 million/£5.8 million.

Zhegrova, who was actually born in Germany, has been enjoying a pretty decent in 2021/22 so far.

For Basel, he made 15 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and laying on six assists.

His form alerted Lille, who have successfully swooped for the player ahead of the likes of Marseille, Dijon and Lyon.

Zhegrova was actually tracked by AC Milan, PSG and Barcelona when he was a teenager, but his career didn’t quite take off as expected.

Interestingly, Wolves reportedly made advances for Zhegrova according to the Ligue 1 official website, which has conducted an interview with the 22-year-old about his transfer.

Zhegrova doesn’t comment on that, but it’s stated ‘During his unveiling, Zhegrova did not hide his pleasure at signing a four-and–half-year contract with the French champions, turning down the advances of Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.”

It is not clear when these advances were made.

But if it was recent, then Wolves have seemingly moved on pretty quickly to someone else.

It has been reported a deal for Chiquinho to move to Molineux is imminent, and there are photos doing the rounds on social media of him having his medical and doing media-related things (via Pedro Sepulveda).

Wolves well-stocked for wingers as Ligue 1 make Zhegrova transfer claim

Wolves fans need not take this too hard.

Wolves are currently blessed with some fantastic players who operate in wide areas.

Daniel Podence is shining right now and Hwang Hee-chan has done well since coming in on loan. Francisco Trincao has blown hot and cold, but is clearly rated by Lage.

Adama Traore’s future is still up in the air, but Pedro Neto is due to return to match action next month.

And then, of course, it looks as though Chiquinho will soon be announced as a new signing by the club.
