Wolves striker Diego Costa made some rather interesting posts on Instagram yesterday.
The 34-year-old is coming to the end of the deal he signed with Wanderers back in September.
Costa arrived at Molineux having been a free agent.
He had terminated his contract with Atletico Mineiro in January 2022, and had been away from football until getting the call from Wolves.
That call came about after Sasa Kalajdzic suffered an ACL injury on his debut against Southampton.
With the transfer window closed and Fabio Silva having left the club on loan, there was little other option than to move for the unattached Costa.
Costa joined, and it took him a fair while to get going.
Nobody really expected him to rip up trees at Molineux. And it is safe to say he isn’t the same player as when he was last on English shores.
But in the last couple of months, Costa has been superb for Wolves.
He has shown the fight that was needed, and ultimately he played a huge role in helping Wanderers move away from the relegation zone.
By many accounts, Costa has been fantastic behind the scenes. He is loved and respected by his teammates.
Some have been wondering if Costa will be given a new contract at Molineux. It has been reported that Julen Lopetegui would like to have Costa around for another season.
But the striker made some posts on Instagram yesterday to suggest he will be leaving.
Diego Costa tells Wolves teammate Matheus Cunha on Instagram he will miss him
Yesterday, Costa uploaded a few videos to his Instagram Story.
He first uploaded a video of him and a few other Wolves players, including Toti Gomes, Matheus Cunha and Matheus Nunes, having an outdoor barbecue. Talking Wolves suggested this was a ‘farewell barbecue’.
Later on, Costa was enjoying a night out with some more of his teammates.
His Story shows that there was a band playing, and in one of the clips Cunha is singing, as is Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho. Douglas Luiz is also there.
There is also a clip of Costa, Cunha, Adama Traore and Toti Gomes dancing.
In one of the clips, Costa includes the caption ‘Valeu mew mano @cunha vou sentir saudades’, which translates to ‘Thanks my bro, I will miss you’.
This would seem to suggest that Costa will be leaving Wolves after the final game with Arsenal on Sunday.
