The 2025/26 season is officially over, and a major rebuild at Wolves is about to begin.
The Old Gold are entering a new era after being relegated from the Premier League, with Nathan Shi, Matt Jackson and Rob Edwards now set for a huge summer.
Wolves are looking to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking next season, but it will not be easy.
Should any of these NOT be on this list? And are there any who aren’t there who SHOULD be on? 🤔
The Athletic have claimed Wolves would like these nine players to stay after relegation…
It will be absolutely paramount to get the recruitment right. Failure to do so will see Wolves fight at the wrong end of the table.
Many players are going to leave, but some will stay.
Ideally Rodrigo Gomes would be one of those players who stays, but his latest comments are a slight worry.
Rodrigo Gomes leaves door open for exit
Speaking to the club’s official website, Rodrigo said about remaining at Wolves: “I think so, yes. I’m being 100% honest because I don’t know. I didn’t speak to my agent yet because I was focused on finishing the season well but now let’s see. I think yes, but let’s see because in football, everything can change. If I’m saying, I promise to do everything to get Wolves back in the Premier League.
“Of course [he’d like to stay], being in the Championship is not the same as being in the Premier League, but the Championship is a very competitive league.

“Being part of a team that gets promoted is amazing, so let’s see. If I’m being part of Wolves, I will do everything to do that, and to get Wolves to the Premier League again.”
So while he’d happily stay, he has also left the door slightly ajar to move on.
It’s a non-committal response, and this should now ring alarm bells for Wolves.
Wolves must keep Rodrigo
There was great news last week as Andre signed a new contract at Wolves.
It wasn’t something too many saw coming, but it was a real statement of intent by the club, and a great and slightly unexpected show of loyalty by the Brazilian.
Wolves must now get to work on keeping Rodrigo.
Rodrigo did recently hint that he would be sticking around at Wolves, but his latest comments now make that less sure.
Simply put, the club need to be ensuring he does not leave.
He was one of the better players in 2025/26, finishing as the club’s second-top scorer behind Tolu Arokodare.
Wolves fans, your immediate thoughts on Andre signing a new contract with Wolves?!
Who saw this coming… 😳
He’s always given his all for Wolves and would be a real asset to the team in the Championship.
So Wolves need to lay on the charm offensive here, and give Rodrigo no reason to explore other avenues.
They need to make it clear to him he’s going to be a key player and assure him about game time. They’ve managed to secure Andre, so they can surely do the same with Rodrigo.
