30-year-old ‘settled’ in Tettenhall with big decision on the horizon for him and Wolves

Last summer, there was a point when it looked as though Nelson Semedo was going to leave the club but ultimately he stayed – and hopefully a similar scenario will transpire this summer.

Semedo has been one of Wolves’ best players in 2023/24, although he hasn’t really been praised as much as the likes of Pedro Neto, Matheus Cunha or Hwang Hee-chan.

But, without doubt, the 30-year-old is showing the best form of his Wolves career, since joining from Barcelona in the summer of 2020.

This summer, Semedo will only have one year left on his contract.

A big decision is therefore on the horizon; do Wolves sell while his market value is still relatively high, or keep him and try to extend his deal again like summer?

The Athletic have produced a feature today about Semedo and what a fine season he’s had so far.

The feature included some nice quotes from Gary O’Neil, who says he’s a ‘big fan’ of the Portugal international and that he is a very low-maintenance player.

O’Neil has selected Semedo at almost every turn this season, and it has been clear to see how much he values him.

It would be no surprise if O’Neil advocated for Semedo to get an extension at Wolves.

And it is very possible that the former Barcelona man could end up extending, because The Athletic report that Semedo is understood to be very settled with his family in Tettenhall, which is where several Wolves players live.

If Wolves manage to secure some kind of European football for next season, then one would imagine Semedo would very much like to hold talks over an extension.

If Semedo keeps up this kind of form, then it’s hard to see Wolves not moving to offer him an extension.

He’s been tremendous this term, and finally looks like the top full-back Wolves thought they’d signed from Barcelona for £29 million.

It is very good to hear that the player is settled in Tettenhall, as this perhaps increases the chance of the player sticking around for longer.

Wolves fans should be hoping for that, because Semedo appears to be getting better despite the fact he’s now 30.

Certainly from a physical point of view, he is still really impressive, as it was recently revealed that he’s the fastest of all players 30 and over in the Premier League.
