Wolves signing Joao Palhinha may put pressure on leander Dendoncker

Reported Wolverhampton Wanderers target Joao Palhinha impressed again for Portugal last night.

The Sporting CP midfielder ended up on the losing side, but his stock has no doubt risen in the past days.

He started against Belgium in Seville, which followed on from the excellent half he played against France.

Palhinha put in another assured performance, although he did get yellow card for a poor tackle on Kevin De Bruyne.

Wolves are said to see Palhinha as a priority signing this summer.

If the club did manage to bring him in, one wonders what that could mean for Leander Dendoncker, who started on the bench for Belgium last night.

Palhinha and Dendoncker are quite similar players.

Both are physically strong and are similar in height and build.

But the Sporting man seems to have a bit more technical quality, something that could make life difficult for Dendoncker back at Molineux.

Dendoncker could lose regular starter status if Palhinha signs

Palhinha can bring that steel and solidity, but also make good use of the ball.

His wonderful win of the ball against France that culminated in a nutmeg on Paul Pogba perfectly demonstrated what a strong overall game he has.

If Wolves managed to sign him, it could well see Dendoncker struggle for starts.

The 26-year-old did not have a great season in 2020/21.

Palhinha signing would surely increase the pressure on him given their similarities.
