Many Wolves fans are hoping and praying they see a new centre-half walk through the door next month.
One did in the summer in Yerson Mosquera, but he’s a young player who was never meant to make an immediate impact.

So when the summer window closed and no one followed the Colombian into the club, some people were left disappointed.
Weirdly, Wolves have actually been fantastic defensively in the first half of 2021/22. The trio of Conor Coady, Max Kilman and Romain Saiss has been surprisingly effective. And Jose Sa has been one of the bargain signings of the season so far.
Having said that, Wolves still need to buy a new central defender. And one man that has been linked is Sven Botman.
Wolves looked at him during the last window, but ultimately didn’t want to pay Lille’s asking price.
If Wolves have any lingering interest in the Dutchman, then it might be important for the club to get a move on sorting a deal.
That’s because there are now reports that Newcastle United have stepped up their interest in him, and apparently the £30 million-rated ace is keen to make that move.
Wolves can’t lose out on Sven Botman again
This is a concerning update about Botman and the new richest football club in the world.

The Magpies are in dire straights at the back and desperately need defensive reinforcements.
A lot of Wolves fans are hoping to see the club go back in for Botman in January. And also his Lille teammate Renato Sanches.
Fans were left disappointed once. Many would be gutted if Botman was to change clubs next month, but not to join Wolves. Being left-footed, he is surely the ideal long-term replacement for Romain Saiss.
