Video: New signing Dan Bentley barks orders in Wolves training

Wolves have released new training footage ahead of this weekend’s clash with Southampton – and new signing Dan Bentley can be seen barking orders at his teammates.

The players are looking to prepare well for what is another huge game this weekend.

The Saints are in really poor form right now.

But it will still be a difficult game at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday. Nathan Jones is under big pressure, and he will be determined to get a result.

Wolves will head into the game off the back of their best result of the season.

The 3-0 win over Liverpool last weekend was absolutely fantastic, and there is real optimism now about the football club.

Things are starting to fall into place under Julen Lopetegui. But the manager knows there’s still a long way to go this season.

Wolves have released footage of a training session this week via their YouTube channel, and the intensity is high.

And it was really good to see January signing Bentley in action.

Bentley came in as Wolves’ penultimate signing of the window, joining from Bristol City.

His arrival allowed Matija Sarkic to head out on loan, and Wolves officials want him to give Jose Sa a big push.

It was particularly good to see how vocal Bentley was being. The man has only been at the club a couple of weeks, but in this clip he looks like he’s been there his whole career.

Watching him (5:27), it is very hard not to think how reminiscent he is of John Ruddy.

Ruddy left Wolves last summer, after the club retracted their contract offer to him.

It was widely known that he was one of the biggest characters in the dressing room, and a very vocal individual.

It was perhaps to be expected that Bentley would show excellent leadership early doors. After all, he was Bristol City’s club captain.

It’s brilliant to see him barking orders like this and being communicative.

When Lopetegui first came in, he spoke about the need for his players to be louder on the pitch and talk more.

If Bentley can be anything like Ruddy was for Wolves, then he will be an absolutely excellent addition to the squad.

Arguably, Ruddy’s departure has been felt by the squad this season, and maybe Sa in particular.

Bentley has the potential to help Wolves finally move on from the veteran.
