The transfer situation Wolves may be keeping a close eye on

Wolverhampton Wanderers could really do with signing a new central defender.

The club moved earlier this summer to bring in Yerson Mosquera.

The youngster has looked very bright in pre-season so far, but the plan is supposedly to allow the Colombian the chance to settle within the first-team, before handing him minutes in the Premier League.

Willy Boly is injured at the moment, and there’s a chance he could be lacking match fitness and sharpness come the first game of the season.

Potentially, the door of opportunity might be about to swing open for Wolves.

It is being reported now that West Ham are in talks to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea (Sky Sports).

Supposedly they’ll bid £20 million, but it’s pretty likely Chelsea will ask for a higher fee than that.

Interestingly, Zouma got linked with Wolves recently – but it was claimed the star turned the club down.

The situation might be of interest to Molineux officials because Hammers star Issa Diop is reportedly a target for the club.

He was linked earlier this month.

Zouma sale would increase Diop exit chances

Zouma going to West Ham would surely boost the chances of Diop leaving the club, and therefore Wolves’ chances of signing the Frenchman.

He really struggled for game time last term, so the last thing he needs is someone like Zouma coming in.

If Wolves had any genuine hopes of signing £67,000-a-week star Diop (Spotrac), this might be something that allows a transfer to come to fruition.
