Yerson Mosquera is suspended for Wolves’ next two games, and this might be an opportunity for Rob Edwards to do something experimental.
Last Friday, Wolves lost to West Ham United 4-0 at London Stadium.
It was a dismal evening for the club, who are now on the brink of relegation, which could even be confirmed this weekend.
Wolves fans, talk to us about Yerson Mosquera…
Does his ability and potential make up for the chaos he brings? What kind of level do you see him reaching? 🤔
Wolves just capitulated in the second-half, and there were so many poor performances.
One particularly poor performer was Yerson Mosquera, who put himself under unnecessary pressure after collecting a silly yellow card in the first-half.
That was for asking for further punishment for Crysencio Summerville, who had fouled the Wolves man.
With Mosquera now unavailable, Edwards has the chance to do something he hasn’t yet done since he took the job.
Wolves could go to a back four after Yerson Mosquera suspension

Since succeeding Vitor Pereira, Edwards has exclusively used the back three formation with wing-backs to start games.
While we have seen Wolves change to a back four in the second-half of games, we are yet to see Edwards use that system from the beginning.
With Mosquera out, there is now a chance to move to a back four.
Of course, Edwards could well bring in Toti Gomes to play on the left of a three, with Ladislav Krejci in the middle and Santiago Bueno on the right.
Or he could replace Mosquera directly with Matt Doherty, who Edwards recently said should be back fit and available to face Leeds United.

But, with Wolves’ fate now basically sealed, there should be an openness to use a back four from the start.
Earlier in the season under Vitor Pereira, Krejci and Bueno had some games where they played as a pair and looked quite good together.
Ahead of playing in the Championship, it would be in Wolves’ best interests to get familiar playing with a flat back four.
Edwards did use that formation at Middlesbrough, and Mosquera’s absence should now prompt him to revisit it.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 16 | 32 | 8 | 9 | 15 | 32 | 44 | -12 | 33 | |
| 17 | 32 | 8 | 8 | 16 | 40 | 57 | -17 | 32 | |
| 18 | 32 | 7 | 9 | 16 | 40 | 51 | -11 | 30 | |
| 19 | 32 | 4 | 8 | 20 | 33 | 63 | -30 | 20 | |
| 20 | 32 | 3 | 8 | 21 | 24 | 58 | -34 | 17 |
Even though Wolves’ relegation will soon be confirmed, these final weeks of the season can still be useful.
There will be players who haven’t seen that many minutes who should be getting chances ahead of dropping into the second tier, if Edwards intends to keep them of course.
Tactical changes should also be explored, like switching to a back four as mentioned.
