Rob Edwards has reportedly knocked back an approach from Burnley to become their new manager, and that should be welcomed by Wolves.
A few weeks ago, Edwards was controversially sacked by Wanderers.
He had learned of rumours about his position on social media, and then bit the bullet after contacting the club to find out what was going on.
Could Wolves’ messy sacking of Rob Edwards now derail the club’s summer and promotion bid? 🤔
Both players and staff were blind-sided by the decision with plenty left unhappy… 😳
It was messy, with Wolves then hiring Cesar Peixoto.
This evening, it’s been claimed that Burnley have tried to make Edwards their new manager. But he’s rejected the Clarets, and that should be seen as a boost for a few reasons.
Why Rob Edwards turning down Burnley is good news for Wolves

Burnley had wanted to appoint Craig Bellamy as Scott Parker’s replacement, but that move recently broke down.
This evening, as per journalist Ben Jacobs, the Turf Moor outfit made an approach to Edwards.
But the 43-year-old has turned down the approach. Currently, no reasons have been given as to why.
But Edwards is fresh out of a very turbulent spell with Wolves, so perhaps he is looking to take a little break before returning to management.
News of this rejection for Burnley should be welcomed by Wolves fans, though.
Of course, plenty did not really rate Edwards and wanted to see the back of him, after he struggled to get results in 2025/26.
But ultimately, Edwards does have experience managing in the Championship, and obviously guided Luton Town out of the division and into the Premier League.
He also had Middlesbrough sitting top of the league at one stage, before he left for Wolves.
His record reads 32 wins, 23 draws, and 23 losses across 78 matches, yielding an overall win percentage of approximately 41.03% in the second tier.
So, as much as he struggled with Wolves in the Premier League, the fact that he isn’t going to a potential rival now is good.
There is also the notion that Edwards was well-liked by a lot of the Wolves squad. Potentially, he might have looked to try to bring one or two with him to Turf Moor.
Have Wolves made the right decision appointing Cesar Peixoto? 🤔
A NINTH managerial job since 2019 for Peixoto and first outside of Portugal…
Or even if that didn’t happen, if Edwards went to Burnley and did well, and Wolves struggled, that might have irked some players in the dressing room.
It would also have possibly placed a bit more pressure on his replacement at Wolves, Peixoto.
Maybe Edwards will end up getting back into management soon. But him not going to Burnley can surely only be a good thing, and ideally, his next gig won’t be in the Championship while Wolves are in the division.
