Four things we learned after Wolves put in another dominant display to beat Everton 3-0

Wolves cruised to a fantastic victory at home as they demolished Everton 3-0 to register three Premier League victories on the bounce.

Max Kilman opened the scoring before Matheus Cunha made it 2-0 in the second half. Craig Dawson then added a third to see out another emphatic victory at Molineux.

Gary O’Neil has now extended his side’s home unbeaten run and followed up their 4-1 victory over Brentford in the week in style.

Each player was once again on fine form as Wolves put in arguably their best performance of the season against Everton to continue their march up the table.

Now, looking back on the game, we discuss four things we learned after the 3-0 victory.

Max Kilman loves an Everton goal

The captain stepped up for Wolves early on in the tie. After a delicious ball was whipped into the area by Matheus Cunha, Kilman managed to get the vital touch to send it over the line from a couple of yards.

It was Kilman’s first goal for over two years. This also came against Everton as Raul Jimenez got the other in a 2-1 win back in November 2021.

His celebration also offered a touch of class after he pulled out Mario Lemina’s shirt from the bench. It only furthered the family feel that Gary O’Neil has generated around the club since he joined the club.

The Brazilian has been on fire in recent weeks. Cunha found the back of the net once again against Everton as he finished off a fine Wolves move to double their lead.

Accompanying his goal was also an assist. The attacker played two fantastic balls into the box for Kilman and Craig Dawson to ensure Wolves saw off the saw off the Toffees in style.

Cunha has now registered six goal contributions this month alone and is easily in his best form since he joined the club this time last year. The attacker was easily the best player on the park against Everton and O’Neil will be hopeful he can continue this going into 2024.

Pedro Neto returns at last

It has been a long wait for Wolves fans to see Neto back out on the pitch. The winger was Wolves’ most influential players before his injury against Newcastle and is still one of the top assisters in the Premier League despite his two-month absence.

After looking likely to return in one of the festive games, O’Neil finally gave him the nod to come on to see out the result against Everton.

Neto looked as sharp as ever. The winger could have easily had two goals in his short cameo. The first came when he hit the ball just over the bar after carving out the opportunity. Then, he looked to have scored a late fourth but it was eventually ruled off for offside.

Gary O’Neil keeps Wolves ticking

Wolves are easily playing their best football so far this season under O’Neil. The manager has now seen out three victories on the bounce with the 3-0 hammering to West Ham completely forgotten about.

Each win has been comfortable as well but none more so than Saturday’s. Wolves completely dominated Everton from start to finish and could have had six or seven goals.

The football was fantastic as the hosts carved open the Toffee’s time and time again. It was the perfect follow-up from the 4-1 win in the week with the players not slowly down either.

Despite talks of relegation at the start of the season, Wolves could now quite easily be in the hunt for a European spot thanks to O’Neil.
