Stoke City boss Alex Neil believes Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever has ‘huge’ potential.

The Potters manager has again praised the Dutchman, who is up for the Championship Player of the Month award for March.

Hoever has been in fine fettle of late.

The former Liverpool man made headlines last month when he popped up with two goals against Blackburn Roberts, both of which came in the first-half.

He followed that up with a goal against Middlesbrough.

And on Saturday, Hoever scored his fourth goal in four games, netting away at Coventry City. He also grabbed an assist against the Sky Blues.

Hoever’s purple patch comes one year on from the public bashing he got from Bruno Lage.

The former Wolves manager questioned the youngster’s professionalism, after he got injured in the first-half of the Premier League game against Crystal Palace.

Hoever has come a long way since then, and Neil has again talked positively about the Wanderers man.

He said (via Stoke Sentinel): “He’s scored four goals in eight games from right-back. He’s got huge potential, he’s a great lad, just wants to learn and wants to get better.

“He’s really dynamic, technically adept, tactically very good and he’s got a great future ahead of him.”

Wolves officials must be delighted with how Hoever’s stint at Stoke is going.

Neil is clearly very taken by him. As are the fans, some of whom were chanting for him to be signed permanently at the weekend.

It has not happened yet for Hoever at Molineux.

But it’s been tricky for him given the presence of Nelson Semedo.

Perhaps he’ll get more opportunities next season if he continues to show this kind of form with Stoke.

That is, of course, if Wolves want to bring him back into the fold and he also wants that.
