Wolves fans have been discussing Patrick Cutrone, after the striker scored his second goal for Empoli at the weekend.
The Italian is on a season-long loan with the Serie A outfit.
The hope is that the player will feature heavily in 2021/22, after he endured a season of upheaval last term.
Cutrone started at Fiorentina and had been due to spend the whole campaign there, following on from when he joined in January 2020.
But a lack of game time saw Wolves recall him.
He then spent a couple of weeks back at Molineux to provide cover, before the club swooped to sign Willian Jose on loan.
Following the arrival of the Brazilian, Cutrone was loaned out to Valencia. He only made seven appearances and didn’t start once. And he didn’t make any of the club’s final five matchday squads.
Cutrone came back to Wolves and actually looked quite sharp in pre-season ahead of 2021/22. Some wondered if a change of head coach might have meant a change of fortune for the player.
Bruno Lage laid down the gauntlet to the former AC Milan star, but a few days later on August 13 he made the move to Empoli.
So far for the Serie A outfit, Cutrone has made 15 appearances. On Saturday, he scored only his second goal for the club in really strange fashion, with a Napoli defender heading the ball against the back of his head.
Wolves are probably hoping Cutrone can have a season like Rafa Mir did with SC Huesca in 2021/22.
But it has not been a particularly fruitful start.
There is a long way to go yet, but it is currently difficult to see Cutrone returning to Molineux for the 2022/23 season.
Wolves fans have their say on Patrick Cutrone
Cutrone has tended to divide the opinion of Wolves fans.
Some feel for him and believe he’s never really had a proper chance. Others have suggested he doesn’t want to play for the club.
On social media yesterday, fans were again discussing the 23-year-old following his game-winning goal against Napoli.
It seems that most simply don’t see Cutrone playing for Wolves in the future.
Him leaving after Lage challenged him to prove his worth, coupled with an underwhelming stint at Empoli so far means the answer is clear for some:
Nah, I liked him, but clearly didn’t want to be here even from the start.

No doesn’t want to be in England, take whatever we can get and move on

I always felt this boy has talent and we never really gave him a chance

Would rather just sell him at this point, I like Cutrone but he’s no use to us.

Beginning to drag a bit now. When the current backup striker can’t even get a game, and isn’t even guaranteed a start when the main striker is suspended, why on earth would we want another striker in the squad? https://t.co/RsvblQbsWX

I always thought Cutrone needed some time in the EPL. I think the Cutrone situation was poorly handled.
Would have been a decent backup to Jiménez, especially after the horrific injury he had last season.#WWFC | #Wolves https://t.co/CyKsyeckNf
