Wolves defender Ki-Jana Hoever scored a brace for Stoke City on Friday night against Blackburn Rovers.
The youngster bagged twice in the first-half of the Potters’ 3-2 win over promotion-chasing Blackburn.
Hoever is looking to finish the season strongly after struggling for minutes at PSV Eindhoven earlier this season.
The former Liverpool man only made eight appearances for the club, before Wanderers pulled him out.
He then headed the Bet365 Stadium, along with Wolves teammate Matija Sarkic, for a fresh start. And it has been a pretty good start for the Dutchman.
On Friday night Hoever made his eighth appearance for the Potters.
It was his second start in a row in the Championship, and the second time in a row he’s played a full 90 minutes.
Hoever stunned supporters by getting on the scoresheet twice in the first-half.
For his first goal, he ghosted in at the back post to finish really well on the half-volley back across goal.
And for his second, he again got in at the back post and finished with a brilliant diving header.
His performance led to the Stoke Sentinel giving him an 8/10, and after the game Stoke manager Alex Neil said: “He’s very attack minded. He gets up and down the line, athletically he’s excellent. I’m really pleased that he managed to get to the back post twice and got his goals.”
The 3-2 win for Stoke pushed the club into 14th place in the league table.
Ki-Jana Hoever making an impression at Stoke – Wolves officials will be very pleased
It’s brilliant to see Hoever grabbing a couple of goals for Stoke.
It hasn’t been a great season for him with the PSV loan not going the way he had hoped.
But he appears to have settled quite quickly with the Potters and is getting a good amount of game time early doors.
Hopefully his confidence will be high after scoring two goals against Blackburn.
The main thing is that he stays in the team in the coming weeks.
It hasn’t worked out for him at Wolves so far since he joined the club in 2020. But this loan move has the potential to be the catalyst for him.
