It is mentioned that he was particularly frustrated about the Alex Scott transfer saga.
Lopetegui had wanted Scott for a long time.
He felt as though the English youngster was a serious talent, capable of improving his squad in a post-Ruben Neves era.
But Wolves didn’t have the means of signing him, with Lopetegui initially thinking that Wolves had the flexibility in their budget to sign him.
Missing out on the 19-year-old was apparently the ‘final straw’ for Lopetegui.
He also wanted a wanted a centre-back, a left-back, a midfielder and a striker brought in.

So Lopetegui thought that there was genuine potential for Scott to be signed, only for Wanderers to be unable to land the Bristol City youngster.
