Wolves all-time top goalscorer Steve Bull has questioned the club’s reported decision to send Fabio Silva on loan to Anderlecht.
On Thursday, reports began to surface that the teenager was set to move to the Belgian outfit for 2022/23.
Anderlecht present their loan offer, and both Silva and Wolves are happy for him to make the move.
Wolves reportedly wanted Silva to agree to extend his contract by a year, which the teenager apparently has.
It will potentially be a good chance for Silva to play much more than he did last season at Molineux.
The starlet found minutes hard to come by, with Bruno Lage showing unwavering faith in Raul Jimenez following his return from injury.
The notion of Silva heading to Anderlecht is something that has divided Wolves supporters on social media.
In the eyes of Wolves legend Bull, the club are taking a risk with the squad looking very thin.
He wrote in his latest Express & Star column: “I think at the moment it’s the wrong time to go as we’re thin on the ground up front, especially if anything happens to Raul Jimenez.
“I do think it’s good for a player like him to go away and get some experience and minutes under his belt – which will hopefully get him some confidence.
“But for me, at this moment in time, he should be pushing in the Wolves team. If he wasn’t doing that by January, then send him out on loan.”
Wolves are surely bringing someone else in, as Steve Bull questions Fabio Silva loan decision
Wolves’ squad is looking very thin indeed right now.
This apparent decision to loan out Silva comes as a bit of a surprise given the current state of play.
But it surely points to Wolves being confident of bringing one or two new centre-forwards in.
It would be negligent of the board to send Silva out on loan and then leave Lage with Jimenez as his only centre-forward option.
