Matija Sarkic’s loan move from Wolves to Birmingham was a long time coming this summer.
The goalkeeper started pre-season training with Bruno Lage but that didn’t last long.
He then started training with Lee Bowyer’s men, on almost a trial basis while they worked on a loan move.
Sarkic even played with the Blues in pre-season games despite not officially signing yet.
His loan exit has now been confirmed and afterwards, he posted an Instagram message to mark the move.
If pre-season was an audition for Sarkic, it’s fair to say Saturday’s game at Northampton could have gone better.
For the host’s second goal, Sarkic got the ball stuck under his feet and was robbed.
But that hasn’t stopped him moving across the Midlands and three Wolves players congratulated him on the move – Dion Sanderson, Theo Corbeanu and Ryan Giles.

Giles is out on loan at Cardiff, and is already earning rave reviews from the fans during pre-season.
Sanderson has also made the move across the Midlands this summer. Wolves and Birmingham are rivals, but their current relationship could be mutually beneficial.
Corbeanu is currently away at the Gold Cup with Canada, getting tournament experience which will stand him in good stead.
And Sarkic will hope he’ll get Championship experience, so long as he cuts out the errors like Saturday’s.
