Reported Wolves transfer target Sven Botman is ready to make his return to action with Lille after recovering from injury.
The star has been on the sidelines nursing a groin injury, which has caused him to miss nine matches.
Much to the frustration of Lille, he actually picked up the injury whilst on duty with the Netherlands U21s.
He was playing against Wales on October 12 and was withdrawn on the hour mark.
Lille have suffered in Botman’s absence.
The team have not won in Ligue 1 since he stopped playing (drawing four and losing two), and conceded eight goals along the way. The club – reigning league champions of course – are currently now languishing in 13th place.
They have fared better in the Champions League though, drawing and beating Sevilla, and then beating RB Salzburg.
L’Equipe report that Botman will finally be back in the Lille squad tomorrow for the game against Rennes.
A chance for Wolves to get more looks at Botman
Wolves were linked with a move for Botman in the summer.
And after the transfer window, Botman actually stated that he was open to a move.
That, combined with Jeff Shi suggesting money was not an issue, was cause for frustration for a lot of fans that a move ultimately did not happen.
It remains to be seen if Wolves go back in for him in January.
He clearly has a big impact on that Lille defence, as evidenced by their struggles in his absence.
Wolves ought to watch him very closely over the next few weeks. He’s coming back from an injury, but if he does well then recruitment officials surely have to make their move when the next window opens.
