Wolves have been linked with a move for Hirving Lozano – and the winger put in a brilliant display for Napoli at the weekend.
Raul Jimenez’s Mexico teammate was in action for the Serie A outfit against Empoli, the loan club of Wolves striker Patrick Cutrone.
It was a great chance for Napoli to keep pace with the two Milan clubs atop the table.
But they would slip up in dramatic fashion at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Napoli were two goals to the good with just 10 minutes plus injury time to go.
But Empoli pulled one back through Liam Henderson, before Andrea Pinamonti scored a quick-fire brace to give the hosts the lead.
It was a stunning comeback to leave the Napoli players shellshocked at full-time.
Despite a really bad result for Napoli, it was an impressive outing on a personal note for Lozano, who is supposedly being eyed by Wolves according to Napoli today.
The star played 68 minutes, so the capitulation happened after he had left the action.
During his time on the pitch, he executed five key passes which was the most of any player on the pitch. And he actually grabbed an assist, firing in a low cross which was dummied by Victor Osimhen for Dries Mertens to sweep in.
Lozano was also superb defensively, winning a match-high 11/13 duels and making five tackles, which was again the most of any player.
It was a display that really suggested he’d make for a great signing for someone this summer.
Supposedly, Napoli are ready to cash in on the 26-year-old.
Hirving Lozano shows his class amid transfer links to Wolves
That’s now three assists in four games for Lozano, who is certainly hitting form at the right time if Napoli do indeed want to sell.
The star gave a great performance that had a mix of impressive playmaking and great defensive work.
Bruno Lage really values wingers that are able to create but also provide great defensive work-rate.
Potentially, £36 million star Lozano could make a really good signing for Wolves this summer.
It’s possible Francisco Trincao and Adama Traore will both not be at Molineux next season. And if that’s going to be the case, moving for Lozano might be a wise move.
