Wolves striker Raul Jimenez has revealed his dislike for speaking to the press.
The 32-year-old was the latest player to participate in ‘After the Final Whistle’, a series on Wolves’ website that allows fans to get to know their heroes a bit better.
The likelihood is that this will be the final feature in club media for Jimenez.
The star has been heavily linked with an exit from the club this summer, after he had a real slog of a season in 2022/23.
Reportedly, he has interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. And his old side Club America have also been linked.
But it was suggested recently that Jimenez would ideally like to remain in Europe.
Raul Jimenez admits he has never liked speaking to the press
Jimenez answered a string of questions, including how he reacts to wins and defeats, what his recovery is like after games and his social media use.

But one of his answers was particularly intriguing.
He was asked about the press in football, and said: “I don’t really like to do it, I have never liked it. But unless it’s mandatory, I decide. It’s easier if we’ve won or I’ve scored, but I still don’t like it.”
Raul Jimenez’s admission about speaking to the press is completely understandable
This admission from Jimenez is completely understandable.
And it’s probably something that many other footballers feel the exact same about.
Ultimately, people don’t set out to become professional footballers because they want to be doing interviews and press conferences.
They do it because of their love for the game and the desire to showcase their talent at the highest possible level.

If players were asked to vote today to continue speaking to the press or scrap it, surely most would pick the latter.
It can be a real minefield. There is always potential for things to not come across in the way intended, and of course, words can be twisted.
So it is little wonder Jimenez, who is quite a laidback character, can’t really be doing with the press and the harsh spotlight it can bring about.
