Former Wolverhampton Wanderers target Rafa Leao was on the scoresheet for AC Milan last night, as they won a top-of-the-table clash against Atalanta.

The Portuguese player scored the Rossonerri’s third goal.

It was a ferocious effort.

Leao finished off a deadly counter-attack versus La Dea before firing into the top corner from the edge of his penalty box.

Currently, AC Milan are just two points off the summit of Serie A.

Only Milan, city rivals Inter Milan and table toppers Napoli are unbeaten so far.

The striker has been frequently linked with Wolves in the past.

Earlier this summer, Italian outlet Calciomercato report that Wolves alongside Borussia Dortmund, Everton and Marseille had all entered into direct contact with the player.

It seems that Wolves have missed out as Leao is in the form of his life. In all competitions he has four goals in eight games.

Could Wolves reignite their pursuit of Leao?

Leao’s stock will only continue to rise, and it is unlikely that Wolves will be interested in investing heavily in a striker, especially when you consider the club’s past two games.

Both forwards Raul Jimenez and Hwang Hee-chan have scored in victories over Southampton and Newcastle United.

Therefore, it seems that the last thing Wolves need to do right now is spend heavily on a striker.

Nevertheless, on current form, it seems that Leao would be an improvement for any team.

However, with Wolves operating on a limited budget, their focus is likely to be elsewhere.

Such as in midfield, where Renato Sanches returned from injury for Lille last night.
