Nuno Espirito Santo has moved to praised Wolverhampton Wanderers wing-back Nelson Semedo, after a strong recent run of performances.
The 27-year-old really stood out in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United, with fans showering him with compliments on social media after the game.
It was the latest in a string of good showings from last summer’s signing from Barcelona, who is now beginning to change the perception of him in the Black Country.
He arrived with a bit of a reputation as being weaker on the defensive side, but the player has been solid of late.
He certainly has the trust of Nuno, who has handed him 29 Premier League appearances so far.
The manager said of Semedo (Express & Star): “I think he keeps improving. It’s not easy as the Premier League is very difficult, very demanding.
“He’s felt this intensity on the duels, and it’s something that he needs to improve.
“But he’s working very hard. He’s very focused and very determined to do it.
“So, we’re pleased with this aspect because I know that the quality is there.”
Semedo slowly proving his worth
You don’t play over 100 games for Barcelona if you don’t have something about you.
Semedo may not have hit the ground running the Premier League straight away, but it’s clear he has quality.
It’s just about ironing out those positional errors and keeping focus.
One gets the feeling that he could very well become one of the top players in his position next season.
