Wolves are set for a new dawn, with Cesar Peixoto officially becoming the club’s new head coach.

The club made the announcement on Monday, after days of finalising the move and Peixoto signing his contract.

The sacking of Rob Edwards was quite surprising and brutal in its nature.

But it’s now time to look forward – and Peixoto has a huge job on his hands.

Have Wolves made the right decision appointing Cesar Peixoto? 🤔

He’s had quite a lot of jobs so far in his short managerial career, and plenty feel that this is a big risk by the club.

But Peixoto made some encouraging remarks in his first Wolves interview, and hopefully he can get the sceptics on side as quickly as possible.

It’ll be fascinating to see which of the current crop could thrive under him, and it seems Raul Jimenez is set to play a key role.

This is his first gig outside of Portugal, and a big challenge lies ahead at Wolves, with promotion back to the Premier League the biggest objective.

Last week, Wolves delighted fans by completing a move for Raul Jimenez.

The striker has returned on a free transfer, and it’s a real coup for the club given how good the Mexican still is.

But what kind of role will Jimenez actually have next season? After all, he is 35 and the Championship schedule is gruelling.

Judging by Peixoto’s comments in his first interview, he is going to feature heavily.

He said: “I think Raul is an experienced player with a lot of quality. I think he’s going to be very important for the season.

“He’s a player with a lot of quality, personality, character, it’s important for us to have these kind of players. I think I can bring the best version of Raul Jimenez to this Wolves team. To help us to win games, that’s the most important thing.”

That assessment would suggest that Peixoto is going to make Jimenez a regular starter and not merely a rotation option.

The key though will be to ensure the Mexican stays fit.

Having his quality on the pitch will be essential, so Wolves will probably need to rotate him here and there to ensure he stays fresh.
