Portugal ran out 3-0 winners against Hungary in their opening game at Euro 2020, with Wolverhampton Wanderers stars Nelson Semedo and Rui Patricio both featuring.
Fernandos Santos’ side were not great in Budapest, and the final scoreline was actually very flattering in the end.
It took them 83 minutes to break Hungary down.
It was Raphael Guerreiro who broke the deadlock, turning in Rafa Silva’s cross.
His strike took a wicked deflection, which was cruel on Hungary.
Silva was then fouled in the area, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring from the spot.
Ronaldo then added another; a superb move involving him and Silva.
The Wolves boys didn’t do too badly.
Semedo – starting at right-back after Joao Cancelo had to drop out after his positive Covid test – had a solid first-half.
He’ll be hoping to keep his place against Germany on Saturday.
The £29 million player was obviously delighted with the result, and has since taken to Instagram.
Semedo said: “Great effort and victory from everyone. Let’s go with everything.”
