Julen Lopetegui has broken his silence following the claims that Wolves are having some financial difficulties.
This week, Wolves fans have been rocked by reports of concerns about FFP.
Wolves’ spending in recent times has seemingly put them under pressure.
Apparently, the club will need to be making player sales this summer, and it may be that Lopetegui does not get as big a transfer budget as he would like.
The manager has already sat down with Jeff Shi and Matt Hobbs for talks about the situation.
And there will be more conversations in the days and weeks ahead.
Lopetegui is looking to get a clear plan from Wolves ahead of the summer, which is shaping up to be a difficult one.
There have been a couple of reports about Lopetegui so far and how he is feeling about the situation.
But last night Lopetegui broke his silence. And he spoke about the kind of players he could now target in the next window.
He said (Express & Star): “I am not asking for incredible signings. I am thinking of signing good players, young players, maybe Championship players, I don’t know.
“I am not thinking we are going to sign from Real Madrid or Barcelona, no, I am aware of our reality.
“But in our reality we have to be demanding now if we want to be demanding after.”
Wolves are going to have to be extremely astute this summer
We will certainly see just how good Wolves’ recruitment team is this summer.
It is looking like fans can forget all about seeing top stars come in for £30 million and £40 million.
Indeed, The Athletic report that deals in the £10 million – £20 million range are most likely.
It is going to be a real test for those overseeing transfers at Molineux.
Rival clubs in a similar position and on a similar path to Wolves will no doubt be strengthening. So Wolves must try and move with them.
And that will be difficult to do as they try to operate with one hand tied behind their back due to FFP.
